Porto Vromi, Zakynthos

Porto Vromi is a little rocky inlet on the wooded west coast, the nearest launch point for the short boat hop to Navagio. It's more a jetty-and-taverna than a resort — a place to park, grab a coffee and step onto a shuttle rather than a day-long beach. The water in the inlet itself is clear and good for a quick swim while you wait. Coming here rather than sailing from the north makes for the shortest, cheapest trip to the wreck, though you miss the Blue Caves that the northern route usually includes.

Getting there: By road down a winding track from Maries village on the west coast.

Tip: Shortest, cheapest route to Navagio — but the northern boats bundle in the Blue Caves.
